Digital Menu: Differences between FREE plan and paid plans (DigiMenu, Premium and EVO)

The article explains the differences between the available versions of OctoTable's Digital Menu. A first free version is included in the FREE plan, then the subsequent versions are available, which allow you to customize the menu in every detail, so as to offer your customers a more professional and recognizable experience, in line with your restaurant's image. What all plans have in common ๐Ÿ‘‡ Before analyzing the differences, here's what all plans (FREE, DigiMenu, Premium and EVO) include for the Digital Menu: ๐Ÿ“‚ Categories Unlimited categories - Create all the sections you want (Appetizers, First Courses, Main Courses, Desserts, etc.) Multilingual texts for categories - Translate category names and descriptions into all available languages ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Dishes and drinks Unlimited dishes and drinks - Add all your menu items without quantity limits Multilingual texts - Insert descriptions for dishes and drinks and translate them into all available languages Price display - Show prices for all your products Special features - Indicate properties like spicy, gluten-free, vegan, etc. Allergen management - Report the presence of allergens in your dishes ๐Ÿ“ฑ Menu Multiple menus - Create different menus for different occasions (lunch, dinner, aperitif, etc.) Multilingual display - The menu automatically adapts to the customer's language Graphic customization - Choose themes, fonts and colors for menu design from those predefined offered on OctoTable Customizable headers - Set title, subtitle and footer of the menu QR Code printing - Generate and print QR codes for your tables What are the differences between the free plan and paid plans ๐Ÿ‘‡ ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Variants and extra ingredients FREE Plan: You cannot display variants and extra ingredients in the digital menu. Example: If a customer asks for a "large portion" of fries or an addition of "cheddar sauce," you wonโ€™t be able to display these options in the digital menu. โŒ DigiMenu plan and higher: You can create and display variants and extra ingredients by navigating to Digital Menu > Variations. Customers will see all available options for your dishes and drinks by scanning the QR Code. Example: For "French fries (โ‚ฌ4.50)" you can add extra ingredients like "Cheddar Sauce (+โ‚ฌ2.00)" or variants such as "Large portion (โ‚ฌ7.00)." โœ… Read the full article to learn more about how to create variants and extra ingredients in your Digital Menu ๐Ÿ‘‡ ๐ŸŽจ Customization of the header image FREE Plan: You can only change the header image by choosing from OctoTableโ€™s predefined generic and thematic backgrounds. Uploading custom images is not possible, so the custom background function will appear disabled ๐Ÿšซ. DigiMenu plan and higher: You can upload a custom header image to align the menu with your brandโ€™s visual identity. In addition, you can decide whether to show or hide the image via a dedicated filter. Example: You can upload any photo you like so the header better reflects your brandโ€™s identity and colors. ๐Ÿ“ธ ๐Ÿท๏ธ Company logo display FREE Plan: The restaurant logo entered in Configuration > Reservation Page > Logo is not displayed in the digital menu. DigiMenu plan and higher: You can choose whether to show or hide the restaurant logo in the digital menu through a dedicated filter. The restaurant logo will appear at the top of the menu, reinforcing brand recognition. ๐Ÿ” Filters and categories management FREE Plan: The categories you create (e.g., Appetizers, First Courses, Main Courses) are always visible and filters cannot be hidden. Customers view all categories by scrolling down. Example: Customers immediately see "Appetizers" with all the listed dishes, then by scrolling they find "First courses," "Main courses," and so on. ๐Ÿ“œ DigiMenu plan and higher: Filters allow customers to view only the category they are interested in instead of scrolling through all categories one after another. You can hide filters or keep them active to let customers focus on one category at a time. Example: Customers can click on "First courses" to view only that section without distractions. ๐ŸŽฏ With DigiMenu and higher plans, you can also choose the compact view of categories. This way the customer can see all categories and then select the one of interest. ๐Ÿข Removal of OctoTable footer FREE Plan: The "OctoTable" footer is always visible and cannot be removed. Example: At the bottom of the menu, "Powered by OctoTable" will always appear, linking to the providerโ€™s website. ๐Ÿ”— DigiMenu plan and higher: You can hide the OctoTable footer to offer customers a fully branded menu without provider references. ๐Ÿ“Œ Note well You will be able to customize your menu by uploading the photos you want to show for each category. Please note that each plan has a different limit for photo uploads. The FREE plan allows up to 5 photos, the DigiMenu plan up to 50 photos, the Premium plan up to 100 photos, and the EVO plan up to 200 photos. This limit applies to all images uploaded to OctoTable, including those in the digital menu, the booking page, and all other sections of the platform. Now you have all the tools to start using your digital menu. You can start right away with the basic version, or give it an extra touch by choosing a menu enriched with graphic elements and exclusive details that enhance your customers' experience. ๐Ÿš€ Want to get started right away? How to create different menus for dining room, delivery and takeaway

In this article we explain how to configure specific menus for each type of service in your venue: you can create dedicated menus for the dining room, delivery and takeaway, so your customers will see only the options available for the service they choose. ๐Ÿ”— Getting started If you haven't done so already, configure your services. Read the complete article on how to configure a new service ๐Ÿ‘‡ Read the complete article on how to configure the delivery service ๐Ÿ‘‡ Read the complete article on how to configure the takeaway service ๐Ÿ‘‡ When you're sure you've configured the services suitable for your restaurant, you can create the corresponding menus and associate them. As an example, we create a "Takeaway" service and proceed with creating a menu dedicated to the takeaway service. ๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Create categories for the takeaway menu Access the Digital Menu (QR code) > Categories section and by clicking on + Add category create the categories specific for takeaway. Example: you can name your categories to easily distinguish them from those used in the menus of other services. For example, you can create the "Takeaway appetizers" category to distinguish it from "Dining room appetizers". For each category: Insert on the left a name visible only to you and your staff ("Takeaway appetizers") On the right insert the name that customers will see ("Appetizers" - without the "takeaway" label) ๐Ÿ“Œ Please note: If you leave the Title field empty, customers will see the name entered in the internal field. Read the complete article on how to create the categories of your digital menu ๐Ÿ‘‡ ๐Ÿ› Create dishes for takeaway categories Click on the blue List of dishes/drinks button next to each takeaway category and create specific dishes. Remember that you can customize your dishes with: Name: "Takeaway Carbonara" (visible only to you) Dish name: "Carbonara" (what customers will see) Price: You can set different prices compared to the dining room menu if necessary Read the complete article on how to create the list of dishes and beverages for your digital menu ๐Ÿ‘‡ ๐Ÿ“• Create and configure the takeaway menu After creating the categories and dishes, access the Digital Menu (QR code) > My QR Menus section and click on + Add. Once the menu configuration window opens: Rename your menu: you can name it "Takeaway Menu" to distinguish it from others Select only the takeaway categories created in the previous steps Customize layout, colors and settings on the page โš ๏ธ Attention. Remember that some features are limited with the use of a FREE plan. Click here if you want to know the main differences between free and paid menus Remember to save your changes The takeaway menu will have a dedicated QR code different from the dining room menu. If you still have doubts about how to proceed, read the complete article on how to compose a digital menu ๐Ÿ‘‡ โš™๏ธ Associate menus and booking methods to services Remember that it's possible to associate a specific menu to each service you offer. This is very important to provide a professional experience without confusion to your customers. By ensuring that each service is associated only with the correct menu, you will avoid a customer ordering takeaway making a mistake and ordering from the dining room menu (perhaps with dishes not available for takeaway or different prices). Similarly, the customer sitting in the dining room will see only the right menu and not the takeaway one, making their experience more smooth and intuitive. Go to Configuration > Service hours to associate a specific menu and booking method to each service. Let's see together how to configure the takeaway service: Enter the edit page of the "takeaway" service you created Select the booking method "takeaway" Select the digital menu "takeaway menu" you just created Save the changes ๐ŸŽฏ How the booking appears to your customers ๐ŸŒŸ Great job! ๐ŸŒŸ Now the customer who books and chooses Takeaway will see only the takeaway menu you configured specifically for this service. The customer will access your welcome page, where they can choose the Takeaway service. After selecting the time of interest, the customer will be automatically directed to the Takeaway Menu you created, from which they can proceed to order by selecting dishes and clicking on the cart. This same procedure can be repeated for all the services you have configured for your restaurant, such as delivery and dining room. Have you already created a menu and a service for the dining room?
