    How to activate Reserve with Google?

    The article explains how to activate the Reserve with Google service on OctoTable, which allows you to receive direct bookings without commission through the world's most used search engine. It describes the necessary requirements, such as an active Google My Business account and proper configuration of services and rooms on OctoTable. After completing the integration, the Reserve a Table button will be visible on Google. ✅ Requirements To use the Reserve with Google service, first verify that you meet all the necessary requirements. You must have an active Google My Business account linked to the business listed on OctoTable (to create one now, follow the instructions by clicking on this link). On your OctoTable account (if you don't have one yet, click here to create a new account for free), you need to: Enter the following details in the Restaurant Profile > General Information section: name of the establishment, address, postal code, city, country, latitude, longitude, email, phone number with international prefix, e.g. +39 Configure at least one available service in the Configuration > Services and hours section. Click here to learn how to configure your restaurant’s services. IMPORTANT: To connect to Google, your services should not have overlapping hours. Configure at least one seating area with at least one bookable table in the Configuration > Seating areas/tables section. Click here to learn how to create your restaurant's rooms and tables. If some requirements are not met, the system will notify you with a red banner. ▶️ Activate "Book with Google" button If everything is correct, you will be able to complete the integration by clicking Select services. At this point, you can choose the services you want to make visible on Google by toggling the corresponding switches. Please note that if you select overlapping services, you will not be able to activate Book with Google. Once you have selected the services, click Confirm. You can then activate Book with Google by clicking Get started with Reserve with Google. The Reserve a Table button will be available on your Google My Business profile 24 hours after activation on OctoTable. The customer searching for your establishment on Google or Maps will find you in the search results and can click on the Reserve a Table button. By clicking on Reserve a Table, they will submit the booking by filling out the Google form directly. Be careful with the hours! If you set hours on Octotable that do not match those on your Google My Business profile, we will not be able to enable bookings on Google. This integration allows you to receive reservations directly from your Google My Business profile or Google Maps, offering a significant opportunity to increase visibility among potential customers. ⚙️ How the Integration Works The real-time connection between Reserve with Google and OctoTable ensures immediate updates of available table bookings. Manual reservations made on OctoTable are instantly reflected on Reserve with Google. 📌 Please note: all changes to service settings do not take immediate effect, but may be reflected within a timeframe not exceeding 24 hours. Therefore, if you add tables, activate out of service or modify something in Configuration > Services and Hours, these changes will be active on Google in approximately 24 hours. ✅ What You Can Do with Reserve with Google With the Reserve with Google integration you can: Activate out of service Limit the number of covers per time slot or for entire service Associate one or more dining rooms to the service Perform check-out to free up tables Use the Waiting List ❌ Reserve with Google Limitations What you cannot do with Reserve with Google: Allow customers to choose the dining room or table Receive a pre-order Request reservation deposit and credit card guarantee Integrate automatically grouped tables Create services with overlapping hours Example of overlapping services: Aperitif 6-8 PM and Dinner 6-10 PM. If you have created two services with overlapping hours, you'll need to choose which service to send to Reserve with Google by accessing Configuration > Services/Opening Hours and deactivate the Reserve with Google connection for one of your services. 💡 Tips To allow customers to book for more people than individual table capacity, create grouped tables 📌 Please note: The maximum number of people who can book on Google depends on the capacity of the table with the highest number of seats created in OctoTable. Example: if only 4-seat tables and one 8-seat grouped table have been created, up to 8 people can book on Google. In case of sold out availability, customers will find the time slot grayed out and can book for the same date if another time slot is available For special events outside opening hours, create the event on OctoTable and update the hours on Google My Business. This option allows you to not immediately confirm requests or to continue receiving them even when the dining room is full.
