How Takeaway Works on OctoTable

Follow this guide to set up and start receiving takeaway orders in just a few steps.

⚠️ If you want to include the Take-away feature in your subscription, you’ll need to purchase a Premium or EVO plan under Subscription > Upgrade ⚠️

1️⃣ Activating the Takeaway Service
Go to Settings > Takeaway/Delivery and turn on the switch to the right of the title Takeaway.

2️⃣ Payment Settings
By default, the payment method is set to Payment upon delivery.

If you want the customer to pay at the time of ordering, disable the Payment upon delivery option.

⚠️ Attention
To request immediate payment from the customer, you must configure your PayPal or Stripe account.
Go to Advanced Settings > Deposits/Payments and complete the setup.

3️⃣ Custom Texts
You can add a custom text that the customer will see before choosing the pickup time.

We have already added two default texts to guide the customer, but you can edit them freely.

Remember to enable automatic translation so they are visible to customers who speak other languages.

4️⃣ Activation for Services
Now add the TAKEAWAY booking method to the services you want to offer for takeaway.
Alternatively, you can create specific services, for example Lunch Takeaway.

Go to Settings > Services/Opening Hours and, under Booking method, select TAKEAWAY.

5️⃣ Menu Association
Decide whether to link one or more menus to the service.

If you choose more than one menu, the customer will be able to select from which menu to order at the time of purchase.


6️⃣ Booking Limit Settings
On the right-hand side of the screen, you will find the option Allow unlimited orders for takeaway.

  • If active: there will be no limit to the number of orders for the service.

  • If inactive (NO): you can set:

    • Maximum number of orders for the entire service

    • Maximum number of orders per hour

7️⃣ Saving and Going Live
Save the service: you are now ready to receive takeaway orders.

📌 Note: Takeaway bookings always refer to the current date. Orders for future dates are not possible.

📥 How do I receive Takeaway orders?
The customer can order directly from the welcome page.
You can find the link to the welcome page at the bottom right of the Dashboard page.

If the Takeaway service is active for the selected date, the customer will be able to:

  • Book a table

  • Place a takeaway order
